SUMMARY:Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Online Score Study Part V
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 27th will be our last installment of our Firebird Score study series! Written for Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company in 1910\, Firebird was the first of several momentous collaborations between the two men\, and interestingly\, was before Stravinsky rose to fame. This final study will focus on the Berceuse and the Finale. We are celebrating our score study series by seeing the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform Firebird at the Hollywood Bowl on July 30th! We have reserved a block of tickets at the group rate. All members are invite! Get your tickets here. \n\n \n\nIn May 2023\, we started our study\, and the video from that study is available on our site for Orchestra and Philharmonic members to watch. Now it’s time to crack open that score again! If you missed the previous parts\, catch up here (https://scoringarts.com/eventlibrary/stravinskys-firebird-suite-part-1/) but even if you don’t have time\, there are many pearls of composition and orchestrational genius that we’ll delve into in the new sections.\n\n \n\nThis event will be held on Zoom at 10am Pacific Time\, and we welcome all of our members (Chamber\, Orchestra\, and Philharmonic) to join for free. DESCRIPTION:It’s the annual Academy of Scoring Arts Hollywood Bowl Night! Join us on July 30th to see the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform Stravinsky’s Firebird and Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto and Spartacus Suite No. 2. We reserved a block of seats in section F2 and are happy to offer our members tickets at the group discount price! Meet us at 6pm at a picnic area (details tbd)! It’s going to be a special concert and a great chance to hang out with our community. \n$31 each \nMembers only! Purchase your tickets via Eventbrite here. \nYour Eventbrite ticket will not give you access to venue. Official Hollywood Bowl tickets will be distributed before the concert! \nFrom the Hollywood Bowl Site: \nKevin John Edusei leads music from the ballet that turned Stravinsky into an international superstar. The Firebird Suite draws on Russian folk tunes and tales\, unlocking an enchanted world of ogres\, princesses\, and\, of course\, a mesmerizing bird with flaming wings. Lush and intoxicating melodies pour out from the opening measures before the orchestra takes off at full speed on a truly spellbinding flight. The night opens with another ballet suite\, this time by Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian. Edusei guides the richly orchestrated Spartacus—famous for its stirring Adagio—before LA Phil Principal Concertmaster Martin Chalifour reels listeners into the pastoral landscapes of Khachaturian’s homeland with the composer’s folk-inspired Violin Concerto.
