Unlocking Unique Percussion Textures in Film Scoring

The ASA is pleased to welcome Abby Savell from LA Percussion Rentals for an in-person workshop on Sunday, October 30th. This hybrid workshop will explore the possibilities of acoustic percussion instruments and how to develop a unique palette of sounds to be used for recording. We are fortunate that Abby will be bringing several instruments from the LA Percussion Rental warehouse and will be performing live demos! Abby will also take us through the work of some of the most famous and innovative percussionists in the field, including the legendary Emil Richards, and break down their collaborative process with the top TV/film/game composers. She’ll also talk about the philosophy behind enhancing the feel of what’s on screen rather than focusing on the setting or culture. Lunch will be provided after the event!
