ABOUT REUVEN
Reuven Herman is a film and visual media composer, conductor, and orchestrator, living and working in Los Angeles. He has composed music for multiple films, television shows, and video games, including Star Wars: The Clone Wars, AMC’s Hell on Wheels, and the Activision title James Bond: 007 Legends.
A graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Reuven has been composing music nearly his entire life. He began playing piano at age 4, and within a short time he was already writing short pieces of music, first for solo piano, and later for larger ensembles (helpfully performed on a Korg 01/W synthesizer). He studied jazz piano during high school, and performed with various jazz, pop, and rock bands.
Following a three year stint in the Israeli Navy, Reuven attended the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music near Tel Aviv, where he studied film scoring. While at Rimon, he co-founded and led The Spinning Wheels, a 10-piece funk-rock band. For his graduation, Reuven composed the score to Rockfish, a ten minute animated film, and conducted a fifty-piece chamber orchestra in a live performance of the music, synchronized to picture, in front of an audience.
Continuing his studies at Berklee, Reuven was selected to conduct The Fellowship of the Rings orchestral suite from Lord of the Rings at the Berklee 2008 Commencement Concert, in celebration of famed film composer, Howard Shore, on the occassion of his receiving an honorary doctorate from the school. The following year, Reuven’s work, Now What, was chosen by popular vote as the commencement processional performed at his own graduation ceremony. Reuven also served as the inaugural conductor of the VGO (Video Game Orchestra), a ninety-piece ensemble including orchestra, choir, and rock band, dedicated to playing music from well-known video games.
Reuven has been living in Los Angeles since 2009, continuing to score films, music for television, and video games. He has worked with composers Kevin Kiner, Christian Davis, David Schwartz, and Eric Allaman, and his music has been featured on numerous hit television series.
