Psycho: A Look at Bernard Herrmann’s Genre-Defining Score

On October 31, 2020, we took a look at one of Bernard Herrmann’s most iconic scores, the 1960 film Psycho. In the sixty intervening years, Alfred Hitchcock forever changed the fabric and DNA of the cinema’s thriller, suspense, and horror genre. Bernard Herrmann, the legendary composer, similarly changed the DNA of suspense/thriller film music and greatly contributed to the film’s success and influence. The study was led by ASA Board Member William V. Malpede along with Michael McGeehee and Steve Bartek (orchestrator with Danny Elfman on  the 1998 remake).
