PREPARING FOR THE PODIUM with Booker White & Angel Velez

Spend the morning with Booker White (head of music preparation for Walt Disney Studios) and Angel Velez (co-founder of the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive) as they dive into the process of preparing for the podium and addressing the needs of the modern media composer. They will discuss the do’s and don’ts of score and part preparation and how it can affect a session, as well as how to prepare a score, address fundamental conducting technique, and provide a few lucky volunteers the chance to try their skills on the ASA stage. Repertoire for this class will be John Williams’ famed Star Wars Suite (Main Title and Princess Leia’s Theme).
