TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE ASA EVENT/MEMORY OR SOMETHING YOU'VE LEARNED
I loved the Back to the Future score study! Back to the Future is one of my favourite films and Alan Silvestri's score is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the dialogue with the other members and was able to learn a lot about the score that way.
BRIEFLY TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAREER AND/OR ACADEMIC HIGHLIGHTS
I am a 23-year-old composer and recent graduate; I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Calgary and hold a professional certificate in composition for film and television from Berklee College of Music. In 2018 I attended Conrad Pope and Nan Swartz's course at the Hollywood Music Workshop, and a year later I interned at Henry Jackman's Sacred Tiger Music for 3 months. I am now working full-time composing music mainly for video games, while running a YouTube channel for covers and arrangements on the side.
NAME ONE COMPOSER OR MUSICIAN THAT HAS INFLUENCED YOU THE MOST
Austin Wintory is one of my favorite composers and he has become a great mentor of mine who I admire and look up to!
ANY LIFE OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE FOR OUR COMMUNITY?
Take risks! Try new things. I never thought I would get into writing music for games but after accepting my first one, I'm hooked! Don't be afraid to take new opportunities and step out of your comfort zone.
WHAT ARE SOME NON-MUSIC RELATED INTERESTS YOU HAVE? (IF ANY!)
I'm a huge nerd and I like to relax by making chainmail!
