On Saturday, February 17th, we’ll be continuing our journey into one of the 20th century’s greatest works, Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. This upcoming study will focus on the Infernal Dance in Movement V. Written for Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company in 1910, it was the first of several momentous collaborations between the two men, and interestingly, was before Stravinsky rose to fame. In May 2023, we started our study, and the video from that study is available on our site for Orchestra and Philharmonic members to watch. Now it’s time to crack open that score again!
If you missed the first part, catch up here (https://scoringarts.com/ eventlibrary/stravinskys- firebird-suite-part-1/) but even if you don’t have time, there are many pearls of composition and orchestrational genius that we’ll delve into in the new sections.
This event will be held on Zoom at 10am Pacific Time, and we welcome all of our members (Chamber, Orchestra, and Philharmonic) to join for free. If you’re not a member, sign up for any tier of membership (including our free tier, Chamber) to get access to the live event. The link will be sent out the day before the event, and also posted to our home page. Please spread the word via socials and we hope to see you there!
