Get ready for the latest challenge event hosted by the Academy of Scoring Arts! On March 14, 2020, we’ll be hosting preeminent orchestration teacher and composer Thomas Goss for a return visit. As in years previous, Thomas will be our guest host as we open up an orchestration challenge to our community.
This year, it’s the Goss-Gershwin Challenge. Pick either of two provided excerpts from Gershwin’s Preludes for Piano, and orchestrate the excerpt for any ensemble of your choice. Submit your score and MP3, then join us on March 14 as Thomas will join us and lead the conversation as we examine as many submissions as we have time for. Thomas is well-known worldwide for his Orchestration Online community, his YouTube channel with hundreds of orchestration resources, and his Patreon channel.
There’s no fee to enter, and no prize to win. This is a chance to get valuable critiques on your own work and sharpen your skills as a composer and orchestrator. Visit our dedicated page to download the materials and to take part. A FAQ is provided on that page with more detailed information.
