Score Study with Norman Ludwig

The Incredibles Score Study with Norman Ludwin

March 8 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

We’re thrilled to announce our upcoming seminar with Dr. Norman Ludwin, a leading specialist in orchestration and film composition as well as the leader of the ASA-affiliated Eastside Ravel Study Group! Join us online on March 8th! Norman will guide us through Michael Giacchino’s retro jazz inflected spy score to The Incredibles (2004), offering a detailed look at the orchestral techniques and compositional style behind the Pixar classic and Giacchino fan favorite.

Norman’s extensive career includes orchestration credits on Jurassic World, Inside Out, Star Trek Into Darkness, Super-8, and John Carter, among many others. He has also performed as a double bass player on over 210 films and TV shows. As an accomplished educator, Norman currently serves on the faculty of the UCLA Extension Film Scoring Certificate Program, the European Academy of Film Composition, and ThinkSpace Education. He has delivered seminars at prestigious institutions worldwide, from Rome’s Sonus Factory to the Prague Conservatory, as well as numerous locations across North America sponsored by the American Federation of Local Musicians.

In addition to his many performance and orchestration credits, Norman is the author of 12 books on orchestration and film composition, including titles such as Modern Harmony, Developing Variation, and Volume Three-Film Music. With his breadth of knowledge and hands-on experience we’ll be in great shape as we get into the weeds of The Incredibles.

Mark your calendars for March 8 and be ready to explore the 1960s spy film inspired sound world of one of Giacchino’s most iconic scores. Stay tuned for the Zoom link.

We look forward to seeing you there!
