On November 8, 2020, the Academy of Scoring Arts held a virtual roundtable discussion featuring the five winners of Spitfire Audio’s infamous and thought-provoking Westworld scoring competition. In the competition, eleven thousand composers entered by re-scoring a scene from HBO’s Westworld and competed for prizes from Spitfire. Composers Rachel Hardy, Andrew Morgan Smith, Oleg Troyanovsky, Kacper Stachowiak, and grand prize winner David Kudell participated in this lively discussion about their approaches to scoring the scene and their experiences taking part in the unique event. The discussion was moderated by Greg Nicolett.
