In order to tell a great story, filmmakers and composers must speak the same creative language. Having an understanding of each other’s craft is crucial for collaboration. The Academy of Scoring Arts partners with the New York Film Academy (NYFA) to host a discussion between filmmakers and composers about their creative processes.
The panelists are Craig Marks (composer), Deborah Lurie (composer), Miriam Mayer (composer), Kim Ogletree (NYFA), Art Helterbran (NYFA), and David Martin Porras (NYFA). The event was moderated by Carrin Tanaka (Academy of Scoring Arts).
After the event, we had a networking dinner over pizza, in which composers and filmmakers had the chance to meet and greet, and share their latest projects.
