Ron Jones hosts an ongoing study of the score to John Williams’s Star Wars suite, starting in the second movement, bar 34. This is a great opportunity to take a deep look at John Williams’ creative process and learn how the music fits together. Ron shows a few key scenes from the film and discusses the impact and overall effect of the score both orchestrally, as well as how it works to picture.
Ron says: “We tear into the score, reverse engineer each part, learn how the various ensembles are functioning, and explore the practical and art and craft of it all. If there ever was a score worth tearing into, this baby is it. If you can’t learn things that really apply to your scoring and orchestration, check your pulse and see if you need to check into Forest Lawn. This is the stuff!”
